TEACHER TRAINING

Our 200 hour teacher training program is designed to equip you with the foundational skills to confidently teach Traditional Hot Yoga classes and advance your knowledge of yoga and mindfulness as a student.

Curriculum

Our program focuses on nine key areas: asana, anatomy, yoga history & philosophy, teaching methodology, meditation, ethics, professional development, and practicum.

You will learn how to:

  • Confidently guide Traditional Hot Yoga 90 and 60 minute classes

  • Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics for cueing different types of bodies

  • Guide classes with trauma informed and inclusive language

  • Safely offer asana variations for individual needs, including prenatal students

  • Refine your practice of the traditional 26 postures and two breathing exercises

  • Understand the history and lineage of Traditional Hot Yoga and Ayurveda

  • Foster a sense of openness in giving and receiving feedback

  • Develop relationships with fellow teachers for accountability and support

  • Create an unforgettable studio experience before, during and after class

Schedule

Teacher Training runs February 2nd - May 17th!

Our 15-week program is composed of immersive practice weeks, half or full day lecture sessions, and out of session homework including class observations, practice teaching homework, and reading.

Training will include:

  • Over 75 hours of yoga practice including postural breakdown, meditation, and pranayama

  • 30 hours of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics

  • 30 hours of yoga history, philosophy, and ethics

  • 50 hours of teaching methodology, practicing teaching, and mentorship

Lead Instructor

Andrea is the proud owner of Hot Yoga Ferndale, where she has cultivated a welcoming community since 2017. With a strong commitment to diversity, cleanliness, teamwork, and respect, Andrea ensures that every class is inclusive and accessible, offering donation-based options and actively prioritizing diverse representation among her teaching staff. She has mentored over 60 instructors and created specialized training programs to enhance their skills, reinforcing a collaborative atmosphere. Recognized for excellence in the industry, she was awarded HOUR Detroit's Best Pilates Classes in 2022, reflecting her dedication to quality and community well-being.

FAQ

  • Yes, you need to have attended at least 50 Traditional Hot Yoga classes, which is the equivalent of about one year of practice.

    Those who have less than one year of practice experience are still welcome to apply. We will connect with you to discuss whether this program is the right fit for your practice experience.

  • Yes! Payment plans are offered in three installments and simply need to be paid in full by 2/2/2025. A $499 non-refundable deposit will be due at registration to reserve your spot.

  • To earn your certificate of completion, you must not miss more than three Lecture/Practium sessions. You must also complete the course homework, demonstrate proficiency in the material taught, and complete a final teach out.

  • There are fifteen spaces available in the program. This ensures everyone receives plenty of support and time to practice teach.

  • Our training program is designed to equip you with the tools and skills needed to confidently teach Traditional Hot Yoga classes and advance your knowledge as a student. It does not guarantee job placement or employment at Hot Yoga Ferndale. All hopeful teachers must meet additional requirements to be considered for our team.

  • Please register with confidence! We know trainings are a commitment of time, energy and resources. Please sign up during a time when you are confident in your ability to prioritize completing the program. Your deposit and tuition are non-refundable and non-transferable.

  • There are many excellent trainings out there, and we encourage you to look into them all! If you haven’t practiced at our studio, come in, take a class, meet our community and see how you feel about spending 200+ hours with us.
